Back we go to Calcutta (Kalkuta) 1757 and listen how the British elite who colonized that great ancient city for almost 150 years figured out, however slowly, to modify the rules of their beloved game of golf to co-exist with the monkey population which was there for untold millennia before the British East India Company ever set up their first trading post.
More importantly, dear fellow Mid-Centurians, what does this all mean to us as we navigate our unique life journey?

Long before Club 54 and its limousine-crowd night club hoopla, The Cheetah Club was the common peoples' glitzy discotheque (and boy, was I, and am I still a common person!)
This episode recollects a unique night when I was running solo through the city I grew up in and what went down that night of April 11,1967 at The Cheetah Club and the stage event entitled "An Imperial Happening".

On The Napoleon Road or How WW2 met the 1980s

Tuesday Dec 31, 2024
This confession takes place in the late 1980s one dark summer night driving on the historic Rue Napoleon or The Napoleon Road which is a mostly two-lane highway running from Grenoble to Marseilles, thru Pyrenees mountains and mostly rural countryside.
The central village of this confession is Digne Les Bains, a village known at that time for its right-wing local politics, ancient healing warm baths (hence the "Les Bains") and little else. Digne Les Bains sits around 2500 feet above sea level.
On the night in question, all I saw was a water tower and a family-run gas station.
The rest is the story told herein.
Thanks and Happy New Year, folks.....It's the only year we have so let's make it a good one.
